Laura Mackenzie

Laura Mackenzie is Senior Vice President, Core Merchants, US Market Development, leading the key retail, fuel, travel, restaurant, drug and grocery merchant vertical teams for Mastercard. During her 10 years managing Mastercard merchant relationships, she has been instrumental in driving new business, expanding relationships and identifying broader opportunities to deliver results with Mastercard’s key merchant partners.

Prior to USMD, Mackenzie spent 3 years in Mastercard Global Commercial Products in the Small and Medium Enterprise Segment where she played an integral role in merchant partner development and launch of the Small Business Easy Savings reward program.

Mackenzie joined Mastercard in 2004 after seven years abroad in London and Johannesburg. In South Africa, Mackenzie was an Assistant General Manager at Nedcor Bank, directing product development with specific focus on electronic commerce and loyalty card programs with a concentration on chip based products. In addition, she held a variety of internal strategic planning and development roles. Before joining the bank she was involved in two key joint venture e-commerce start-ups, Linx and Destiny Electronic Commerce, and was integrally involved in rolling out e-commerce solutions across a broad spectrum of industries in the South African market.

Before making a move to the financial sector, Mackenzie spent more than a decade in a variety of senior management rolls in the fashion and retail business in New York and London with high end, globally recognized designers Ralph Lauren, Anne Klein and Nicole Farhi. In that capacity, she was directly responsible for increasing business for the brands with key high end retailers in both the U.S. and abroad, at stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Marshall Fields, Macy’s, Harrods and House of Fraser.

Mackenzie received a BA from Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY and an MBA in International Marketing from the Columbia Business School. She also completed a year of study at the University of Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain.
